ICVA Senior Group: A Vibrant Community of Wisdom and Connection

At the Islamic Center of Virginia (ICVA), our senior group stands as a shining example of warmth, wisdom, and active engagement. Meeting every other Wednesday—from 2:00 to 4:00 PM during Daylight Saving Time (EDT), and 1:00 to 3:00 PM during Standard Time (EST)—this vibrant gathering of brothers and sisters aged 50 and up offers far more than just a chance to socialize.

A Community for Seniors, Led by Seniors

The primary objective of the ICVA Senior Group is to create meaningful opportunities for our elders to stay connected, engaged, and spiritually fulfilled. Whether it’s through group discussions, educational talks, light physical activities, or outings, each meeting is thoughtfully planned to enrich the lives of our senior members.

Recognizing the invaluable wisdom and life experience our seniors carry, the group also serves as a foundation of support for the larger ICVA community. Seniors often take part in intergenerational events, offering mentorship, volunteering, and helping organize programs that bring the entire community together.

Open to All, Rooted in Faith

This group is a welcoming space for both brothers and sisters, fostering a sense of belonging rooted in our shared Islamic values. It’s a place to laugh, learn, reflect, and grow—together. Whether you are looking to reconnect with old friends or meet new ones, the senior group offers a welcoming atmosphere of companionship and purpose.

More Than a Meeting—A Movement

From community potlucks and storytelling to wellness talks and service initiatives, the energy and spirit of the senior group are contagious. It continues to grow, not only in number but in impact, playing a vital role in the life of our masjid.

If you or someone you know is 50 or older and looking for a positive, supportive, and inspiring community, we warmly invite you to join us. The ICVA Senior Group is not just a program—it’s a family.
